Web Filenames
1. Filenames of web pages should only use ASCII lowercase letters and the underscore character.
For instance,

/topics/fld_new/topic_new.htm, a web root path and filename.

This is a recommendation for web compatibility. But KSW does require that all filenames and paths employ ASCII characters only. Unicode non-ASCII characters are not allowed.

ASCII is safer on the web for filenames. Also, because KSW lets browsers encode URLs, using the recommendation above makes even more sense: see URL Encodings.

When starting from an existing site, filenames or folder names that do not conform may be left as they are, except for Unicode non-ASCII characters that should be eliminated/replaced.

2. Filenames of topics must be unique throughout a KSW project.
This is a requirement. It applies to all topics, regardless of the system folder they are located in (because filenames are used as topic IDs). This requirement does not apply to excluded files or files in excluded folders.

Note. The term unique is used like in Windows, where filenames/paths are case insensitive.

When sorting filename lists, KSW uses the (language invariant) sorting algorithm. See Language Invariant.
