Languages and
Encodings
Users may use multiple languages per
project. It is always optimal to use
UTF-8 encoding for your pages (you set the encoding in the page editor). In most page
editors, encoding may be set per page or globally. Setting the default encoding as UTF-8
is an excellent choice.
KSW also accommodates legacy ANSI pages (Windows code page encoding). This is useful when you start with an existing (older) site [all new sites should be UTF-8]. After a project is loaded, and before it is opened, you may press the 'List ANSI Topics' button to see a report of the non-UTF-8 topics in your project.
Note. Pure ASCII files are valid UTF-8 files, they do not appear in the ANSI list.
Setting folders in hierarchy for
different languages
When a project is created, a default language and a default sort method (alphabetic or
manual) is defined for the project. In addition, any folder can have its own language set
for it. The language determines alphabetic sorting of items in that folder. When a new
folder is created, it always inherits the language of its parent folder - but the language
setting can be subsequently changed.
Setting Index Language
The Index can have its own sorting language, although in most cases the default
project language (which is also the default index language) needs not to be changed.
